Our History

Bergen Funeral Service, Inc is proud to be family-owned and operated. Richard Nimmo started Bergen Funeral Service in 1962 and in 1980, Scott Nimmo joined his father in funeral services. With expertise in the funeral industry and international shipping, Bergen Funeral Service became a leader in all aspects of the industry.

In 2012, Scott’s son Andrew and nephew Matthew Connors joined the family businesses. These two families have grown up in the community and understand how to provide compassionate care and exceptional service to all families in their time of need.

Our Valued Staff

Janine Cestaro

Janine Cestaro, Manager

Janine has been a Licensed Funeral Director for 33 years and part of the Bergen Funeral Service family for 15 of them. She graduated from American Academy McAllister Institute in 1982 "Cum Laude". She is dedicated to serving her families with compassion and care. Her unique bond with our tight-knit community is something that she cherishes. In her spare time, she enjoys playing volleyball, relaxing at the beach and spending time with her family.

John Morreale III

John Morreale III, Funeral Director

John started his career working in the funeral Industry in 1994 and graduated from American Academy McAllister Institute with a degree in Mortuary Science in 1996. John is a proud and dedicated Funeral Director who brings strong family values, professionalism and a vast knowledge of many different religious and cultural backgrounds to Bergen Funeral Service. John was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and still resides there with his wife Desiree and their 4 Children Justin, John, Mia and Ava. In his spare time John enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and taking day trips.

Bryan Ellison

Bryan Ellison, Funeral Director

Bryan joined Bergen Funeral Service in 2013. He is a native New Yorker and currently resides in Brooklyn. He is a 2011 graduate of the College of New Jersey where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. He then received his Associate’s degree in mortuary science from American Academy McAllister Institute in 2014. He is licensed in New York State as well as New Jersey. Bryan served his residency and career as a funeral director with Bergen Funeral Service. He is an avid New York sports fan who enjoys playing baseball in his spare time. He is dedicated to helping families in their time of need and serving the people of the community. Bryan is honored to work for Bergen and said “When Scott gave me the opportunity to work with him, I was truly honored."
