They say kids are great judges of character. Well, all the children that encountered you loved you—so what does that say about your character? It says you were dependable, kind, patient, and a safe place—not just for a job, not just surface level, but somewhere deep in your soul. GOD spared no good deed creating you.
I am grateful to have spent those nights at your home and to have assisted you in your class. I would always ask, “Where’s Ms. Shy?” I remember learning your name was Shayeena, and before it came out, you gave me the most stern look you ever had and shook your head 😂. Of course, you were an adult then—but for me, what a much simpler time.
You remind me of that carefree childlike life. If I never told you how much you shaped real lives with your work—you did. Your kindness is such a rarity in this world; you’ve left me searching for that same kindness in others and within myself… thank you.
Though our story together now has its period because you got your wings, I will continue to pass forward the love and kindness you shared. And your kids? That sounds like a sequel—or a spinoff. I hope you can read the book up there.
