Ronald Rajnarine's Obituary
Ronald Rajnarine, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 29th, 2024, at the age of 80.
Ronald was born on July 25, 1943, to Bekermajit and Cecilia Rajnarine in Guyana, South America. After graduating from high school in Georgetown, Guyana, he went on to study engineering at the Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland and furthered his studies at Delft University in Holland.
After graduation, Ronald landed his first job as a civil engineer in Georgetown, Guyana, with the Guyana Water Authority. This kickstarted an extensive engineering career spanning more than 50 years. Throughout his career, he made a positive impact on the lives of many. His dedication to his work and commitment to excellence set him apart as a leader in his field.
In 1973, Ronald married Suneeta Persaud in Georgetown, Guyana, where they had two children, Vidya and Ryan. Ronald and Suneeta later moved to Eleuthera, Bahamas in 1991 and finally settled in Queens, New York in 2021.
Ronald was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. As a doting grandfather to Sacha and Sebastian, he showered them with love and wisdom. He delighted in their presence and found great joy in witnessing their milestones. His selflessness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on the community he called home. He had a deep appreciation for nature and found solace in the beauty of plants and flowers.
His passing is preceded by his mother, Cecilia, his father Bekermajit, his brothers Harold, Arnold, and Robert; and his sisters, Joyce and Elizabeth. The second of nine children, he is survived by his sisters Ilona, Pam and Carol.
He is survived by his wife, Suneeta, his grateful children, Vidya and Ryan, his son-in-law Andrew, and his beautiful grandchildren, Sacha and Sebastian.
A memorial for Ronald Rajnarine will be held on Monday, March 4th (6pm – 9pm) at Bergen Funeral Service, Inc. located at 102-17 101st Avenue; Ozone Park, NY 11416. A viewing will also continue on Tuesday, March 5th (12pm – 2pm) at the same location. A cremation will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery – All Souls Crematory located at 7202 Astoria Blvd S., East Elmhurst, NY 11370.
