Gloria Reyes' Obituary
Gloria Estelle Reyes was born on April 19, 1942 in Salinas, Puerto Rico to Asuncion Reyes Forestier and Florencio Reyes-Ortiz. At age 10, she came to the States with her family. At a young age, she worked as a seamstress for a clothing company in Manhattan. She then worked in the shipping & receiving department for Kramer Company. Known for her beautiful smile, Gloria loved Latin music and salsa dancing and in her youth, could be found dancing the night away with her sisters at the Che Jose or the Palladium. She loved watching crime series and Spanish novelas. She learned how to cook from her mother and poured her love into every delicious meal she made. She enjoyed going to the casino to have fun with her family and friends in her spare time. She devoted her life to caring for others, including her beloved mother. Being the 2nd born of 13 kids, she always ensured that her younger siblings were taken care of. And although she did not have children of her own, she was a mother to many individuals, including her siblings, countless nieces and nephews and friends in the neighborhood.
Gloria passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 8, 2022. She is survived by her ten remaining siblings (Florencio, Margarita, Sonia, Rene, Agar, Alex, Sarah, Larry, Betty & Miguel), numerous nieces, nephews (great-nieces and great-nephews), cousins and second-cousins. We find comfort in knowing that she is reunited in heaven with her sister Raquel, her brother Joseph, her mother Asuncion and her father Florencio. Written by her niece Natalie Quinn
