Gaitri Singh's Obituary
Gaitri Singh, 63, of Queens, New York, passed away peacefully at Jamaica Hospital on June
15 th , 2022. Gaitri was born in Grove, Guyana, on May 24, 1959, to Deoki Singh and the late
Woodit Singh. Gaitri attended La Bonne Intention (LBI) Primary School and then pursued
knitting and then sewing. Gaitri immigrated to the United States in 2005, where she worked at
Swissport at John F. Kennedy Airport for 17 years.
Gaitri valued punctuality as it related to her job and medical appointments. Gaitri appreciated
restful sleep, as she woke early for work. She made it a priority to watch the news and weather
forecast in the mornings to prepare for her day. Gaitri indulged in Guyanese dishes, her favorites,
chow mein and chicken curry. She treasured time with family and friends and being immersed in
the Hindu culture. Gaitri will be remembered for her “heart of gold,” as her mother says. When it
came to her loved ones, she did not hesitate to go above and beyond for their happiness.
Gaitri is survived by her daughter Amrita and her son-in-law, Errol, and her daughter Ambika.
Her siblings and their spouses: Hanuman and Mala, Ahilia and Hardat, Nadira, Shastri and
Angela, Omkar and Geeta, and Artie and Ganesh. Her granddaughters: Asmita, Arpita, and
Ashtie. Her nieces and nephews: Vidia and Avinash, Shivanie and Kevin, Randy and Aruna,
Sheldon and Brandon, and Ashley and Pratima. Gaitri also leaves many cousins, extended
relatives, and friends.
