Edward J. Rehor's Obituary
Edward was born to his parents, Edward Sr. and Charlotte (nee Rice), on June 30, 1942, at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY. He was the oldest of five children.
After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served and was Honorably Discharged after two years. There he earned both a Sharpshooter and a Good Conduct medal.
Edward held a wide variety of jobs throughout his lifetime. Besides being a soldier, he taught at a driving school (though he refused to teach his own children). Edward also worked for over 30 years at the U.S. Postal Service, holding various positions until he retired on his 65th birthday. He also worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he met his wife, Edna. They were married 57 years upon his passing.
He was a huge fan of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and MASH; he watched them every time they were on. He loved to read, with James Patterson at the top of the list, and could easily complete a crossword puzzle or a word search. He spent hours on the computer researching his ancestry, and then praying that the Mets would win just one game. But most of all, Edward loved traveling with his grandchildren Brittney, Thomas, and Ashleigh. Mickey and Donald had nothing on him.
Edward leaves behind family who love him and will miss him greatly. He is survived by his wife, Edna; his daughter Maria, and her husband Ramon; and his son Edward III, and his wife Betty. He leaves behind grandchildren: Brittney and her husband Josh, Thomas, Ashleigh, Perry and his husband Josh, and Jeremy. As well as three great-grandchildren: Christian, Rylie, and Revel. He is also survived by his brother Frank, and his wife Lena; his sister Mary, and her husband Robert; and his brother-in-law Alby, and his wife Barbara. As well as: nephew Jay, his wife Celeste, and their daughter Aurora; and his nephew Michael. Not to forget his fur grandbaby, Dexter. He also leaves behind an extended group of friends that he treated more like family. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, James; and sister, Patricia.
At the place that brought him life those 81 years ago, he took his final breath at Jamaica Hospital on April 9, 2024.
